Why did you decide to study science? 
Deciding to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Data Science was a deeply personal choice for me, driven by my profound interest in mathematics and technology. Growing up, I always found joy in mathematical puzzles and seeing how numbers could tell stories. This fascination led me to explore the world of data science, where I could use various tools to extract meaningful insights from datasets.

What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
I chose Monash University for my data science studies due to its outstanding reputation and strong industry partnerships. The course offered a wide range of subjects within applied studies, from statistical modelling to database structures. Personally, I found this diversity extremely useful as someone who likes to venture out, try new things, and explore various aspects of data science in depth.

What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
The highlight of my Bachelor of Applied Data Science degree so far has been the hands-on projects that have allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. I particularly enjoyed collaborating with my classmates from diverse backgrounds and tackling the challenges we encountered to find innovative solutions to our data-related problems. I also enjoyed presenting our findings to different stakeholders.

What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
I've come to realize that it's not just about analysing data but also about effectively communicating findings to non-technical stakeholders. Without effective communication, even the most insightful data analysis may fail to drive meaningful actions or decisions within an organisation.

If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
I would say to look for those extra touches that make Monash unique, like specialisations or cool opportunities. Sign up for networking events which can open up exciting doors for internships. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from students that are studying the course you would like to study.
