Services for students
Discover what services are available to Monash University, Indonesia students.
We are committed to ensuring the best learning experience for you. To assist you to study independently, you can access disability services and arrangement adjustments. This may include flexibility in assignment deadlines and alternative arrangements for exams. An adviser may also make suggestions when they meet with you.
Disability Support Services assists students with disabilities, mental health conditions and on-going medical conditions. This includes students with learning difficulties, short-term injuries and students on the Autism Spectrum.
Available services
The following services are offered by Disability Support Services for Monash Indonesia students. Please note that registering with Disability Support Services doesn't provide automatic access to all services.
- Alternative arrangements
- Equipments (i.e. short-term loans of hearing transmitters)
- Counselling Services: students are able to access up to six (6) free counselling services with our partner, Benestar. Please reach out to ask.monashindonesia@monash.edu to guide you through accessing these services.
Disclosing your disabilities
Should I disclose my disability?
You're not obliged to disclose a disability or medical condition to the University. We understand that disclosing your disability may feel daunting, but if you do choose to disclose your disability and the impacts on your studies, we may be able to provide you with essential resources and accommodations that will enhance your academic journey. Even if you don't need support services, disclosing your disability when enrolling helps us develop accurate statistics about students with disabilities at Monash.
Privacy
Details of your disability and registration are securely maintained by Disability Support Services and will not be disclosed to other areas of the University without your consent unless it has the potential to risk your own safety and others. For more information regarding privacy, please refer to the Disability Support Services Privacy Statement. Your registration with Disability Support Services will not be noted on your academic transcript.
Steps to disclose
- Reflect on your needs: Take some time to reflect on your needs and how your disability may impact your academic experience. Consider the accommodations and support services that would be beneficial to you.
- Reach out to disability support services to schedule a confidential meeting with a disability services adviser. During this meeting, you can discuss your disability, any accommodations you may require, and any concerns you have about disclosing your disability.
- Provide documentation (if required): Depending on the nature of your disability and the accommodations you are requesting, you may need to provide documentation from a qualified healthcare professional. This documentation helps us better understand your needs and ensures that you receive appropriate accommodations.
- Maintain open communication: Communication is key to ensuring that your needs are met effectively. Keep the lines of communication open with your disability services coordinator and academic advisors to address any concerns or changes in your accommodation needs.
