Why did you decide to study science?
I have a broad range of interests and skills and love the variety a Double Degree provides. Science is a fantastic degree if you have an inquiring mind and enjoy applying the knowledge you acquire.
What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
The ability to study a Double Degree and the opportunities for practical experience.
What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
Field work! Studying Earth Science has given me the opportunity to go on lots of adventures and learn in the outdoors.
What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
That we would have a lot more opportunities for hands-on learning than we actually do.
If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
I would ask them what they are interested in and try to tailor my advice to them. In general, university is what you make it. If you want to get a lot out of it, don't be scared to get involved in the opportunities available. Speak to your lecturers and classmates, because they'll enrich your understanding and may be able to help steer you towards the career you aspire to have.
Give us a life hack or piece of advice you live by?
Be curious. Every experience is an opportunity to learn (even the bad ones!)
