Infant Aquatics Program

The Infant & Preschool Aquatics Program aims to familiarise children and parents with the aquatic environment.

Our program promotes water confidence through participation in a wide variety of aquatic activities using song, games and play and is suitable for children aged 6 months to school-aged. The classes are designed to help children and parents to learn to love the water together!

The program at Monash Sport aims to extend the outcomes infants, toddlers and preschoolers are learning in childcare or kindergarten programs in a safe aquatic environment. An essential part of our curriculum is to teach children from the earliest age to understand the dangers associated with water and more importantly how to be safe around the water. Plus our infant classes are conducted by AUSTSWIM qualified instructors with an Infant extension.

Other learning outcomes are to increase the motor development, socialisation and water play opportunities for the children attending our programs. All these skills not only assist in providing transferrable learning opportunities but also lead to children learning to swim, a crucial life skill.

Through an early introduction to the water at the infant and preschool level, children will build confidence in the water allowing them to transition to independent swimming lessons and aid them in progress through the Learn to Swim levels.
