Monash Sport invites you to Pool Pride Night, our annual event celebrating the LGBTIQA+ community and promoting our safe and inclusive Doug Ellis Swimming Pool at Monash Sport Clayton.
Enjoy inclusive swimming, pool games, spa access, aqua fun classes, pool inflatables, a visit from the incredible TBC and music.
Pool Pride Night is just one aspect of our inclusion initiatives to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome in our facilities at Monash Sport. You don't have to be a Monash University student or staff member to attend this event, EVERYONE can come along to enjoy free activities and try out our aquatic facilities. What is Diversity and Inclusion Week? Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Week is an annual campaign coordinated by Respectful Communities and delivered by members of the Monash University community. The week provides a prime opportunity for staff and students and the wider community across all Australian campuses to explore and celebrate our diverse community with a variety of fun and educational events.
This event is for EVERYONE! The LGBTIQA+ community, their family and friends. You do not have to be a Monash University student or staff member to attend Monash Sport facilities, everyone is welcome! Register for a free ticket here to secure your spot.
Monash Sport is a Watch Around Water facility. Watch Around Water is a joint initiative program between Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) and Life Saving Victoria (LSV) to assist in the education of parents/guardians about the appropriate supervision of children around aquatic environments. As such, children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a guardian for this event.

Inter-campus shuttle bus - Regular, free shuttle buses (with free Wi-Fi) link our Clayton campus with our Caulfield and Peninsula campuses, and our Peninsula campus to Frankston Railway Station. As part of the University's Diversity and Inclusion Week, we're hosting Pool Pride Night to show our support for the LGBTIQA+ community and to communicate that our facilities are a safe space where everyone can feel comfortable participating in aquatic activities with everyone else without fear of resistance for being who you are.
Pride Pool Night is just one aspect of our inclusion initiatives to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome in our facilities.
Enjoy a variety of offerings:
- Lap swimming
- Swim instructors available throughout the night
- DJ Duchess Kay dropping amazing beats
- Aqua Fun classes (15-minute duration): 6.30pm and 7pm
- Pool inflatables and games
- A visit from the incredible TBC
- Free snacks and giveaways
- Respectful Communities providing resources and information space
It's completely up to you if you would like to swim at Pool Pride Night, but we do hope you will find this to be the perfect opportunity to try out our pools in an inclusive and comfortable environment. Alternatives to swimming include:
- Dancing away to the DJ tunes
- Taking part in our aqua class next to the pool
- Sitting on the side of the pool/ dipping your toes/legs in
- Sauna and steam room
Security will be roaming the campus as usual on this day.

A wheelchair-accessible ramp is available at the Scenic Boulevard main entrance to Monash Sport; the Doug Ellis Swimming Pool has a hoist if required for entry/exit to the main & leisure pool and a lift is available to access the second level of the Fitness Centre.
All Monash Sport sites, provide female, male and all-gender/accessible toilets.
