Building on the success of last year’s CWFC, join us for a 5km loop around our wonderful Clayton campus starting and finishing at Monash Sport. This free community event brings together students, staff, alumni and supporters to celebrate what makes Monash truly special. No. The Chancellor's Walk for Change is free to attend, and there is no requirement to make a donation to participate.
This event is about showing up, walking together and demonstrating the power of our community. By joining students, staff, alumni and supporters, you're helping unite for change, inspire the next generation of leaders, and strengthen opportunities for Monash students.
If you'd like to make an additional impact, voluntary donations can be made through Monash Giving. University partners also proudly contribute to the success of the event and the student support fund, helping provide immediate financial assistance to students who need it most.
The Chancellor’s Walk for Change is a 5km walk-only event around our wonderful Clayton campus. To ensure everyone feels comfortable and included, we ask participants not to run. We want to make this event welcoming, safe, and enjoyable for all participants, including those with prams, wheelchairs, or who may need extra support. That’s why we’re asking everyone to walk at a comfortable pace, take in the atmosphere, connect with others, and remember - every step together makes a difference!
The 5km walking route winds through Monash University’s Clayton campus. While the route is wheelchair accessible, participants will encounter a variety of surfaces, including concrete pathways, compacted dirt and gravel sections, and some narrower paths along the course. Monash University volunteers will be positioned throughout the event and along the route to provide assistance and support as needed.
For those looking for a shorter or more accessible option, a 1km route is also available around the Monash Sport Clayton Tan Track. This route features a flat rubber surface and is located adjacent to the event village, allowing participants to stay close to the entertainment, activities and event atmosphere.
We encourage everyone to participate in the way that feels most comfortable and enjoyable for them.
Since this is a walk-only event, please avoid bringing bikes, scooters, or similar items inside. Bike bays are available at Monash Sport Clayton’s main entrance for your convenience. Wheelchairs and prams are warmly welcomed, and our facilities include accessibility features to support all visitors on the day.
Onsite parking is available. Parking is free in blue and red zones from 3pm onwards until 8am the following morning.
Monash students and staff can use the free shuttle buses to travel between campuses by scanning their M-Pass upon boarding. For more info, please search Monash University parking. https://www.monash.edu/about/our-locations/transport-parking/parking
Accessible parking
To get to Monash Sport at the Clayton campus, you can take public transport (buses or trains to Huntingdale station and then a bus or walk) or drive. If you're on campus, you can use the free shuttle bus or walk. The main entrance to Monash Sport and the Doug Ellis Swimming Pool is on Scenic Boulevard.

By train: Travel by train on the Pakenham or Cranbourne line. Get off at Huntingdale Station and catch a bus. Buses leave for Clayton campus every 15-20 minutes. The 601 service express shuttle will be running on Sunday 3 August from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
By bus: Stop in the Bus Interchange (Monash University stop)

- 630 - between Elwood and Monash University
- 631 - between Waverly Gardens SC and Southland Shopping Centre
- 703 - between Blackburn and Middle Brighton

- 802/804/862 - different routes between Dandenong and Chadstone Shopping Centre
- 900 - between Rowville and Monash University

Yes, a multi-faith prayer space will be available throughout the event, located in the Northern Pavilion adjacent to the Soccer fields and Tennis courts.
This event is all about bringing our community together to get involved, have fun, and make a positive impact. You're welcome to participate for as long as you’d like - whether that’s the full event duration or just part of it. Every step together marks change!
Animal/pet:
While we adore pets, they unfortunately aren’t allowed at this event. Service animals, of course, are always welcome. You’ll find water taps located along the walking route. Thanks for your understanding!
Multiple food options will be available for free and to purchase at the event village, located at the start and finish points at Monash Sport Clayton’s Outdoor Precinct. Food stalls will commence from 6pm and be available until the event finishes at 7.30pm.
As with any outdoor event, we’re hoping for perfect weather! The walk will go ahead, rain or shine. However, if severe weather arises, we’ll assess conditions on the day and make a decision based on everyone’s safety.
Your safety and security is our top priority. At the event, our event staff will be dressed in a bright event t-shirt and positioned along the walking route and throughout the event space to support you.
