University Basketball League (UBL)

Monash is proud to be joining the New Balance University Basketball League (UBL) in 2026, bringing a whole new game-day atmosphere to campus and uniting our students, staff and broader community.

From August to October, Monash will compete against 13 other universities from across Australia in this national basketball league. For our students, that means free home games at Clayton and Peninsula, big crowds, music, food, entertainment and a new reason to get involved in campus life.

Endorsed by Basketball Australia, the University Basketball League (UBL) is a recognised high-performance pathway for female and male student-athletes striving for excellence both on the court and in the classroom. Monash’s Men’s and Women’s UBL teams are selected from experienced players competing at a high level, offering the opportunity to represent the University in elite university basketball competition across Australia.
The 2026 season will feature an 8-week home and away competition from August to October, followed by finals, with both teams competing in interstate fixtures and domestic travel provided.
This is also the first year Monash University will compete in the UBL, making it an exciting opportunity to be part of a new chapter in Monash sport history.
You must be a currently enrolled student of Monash University, proceeding towards a certificate or higher award/degree. You must currently play or have previously played at one of the following levels:
- NBL
- WNBL
- NBL1
- Big V
- Interstate or International equivalent
Trials progression:
Following your attendance at a trial, you will be provided with one of the following three outcomes:
1. You may be invited to progress to an "Invitation only" trial
2. You may be invited to attend a second open trial
3. You unfortunately do not progress
Once this form has been submitted, our team will review your eligibility to try out and be in contact to confirm your try-out attendance and information.

- Women's Try-out 2: Sunday, 14/6, Clayton Rec Hall - 6.00pm - 8.00pm
- Men's Try-out 1: Sunday, 31/05, Clayton Rec Hall - 6.00pm - 8.00pm
- Men's Try-out 2: Wednesday, 3/06, Clayton Rec Hall - 4.30pm - 6.30pm
- Men's Try-out 3: Monday, 8/06, Peninsula Stadium - 5.30pm - 7:30pm
