Net gains, big blue momentum

Momentum is building ahead of Monash’s debut in the New Balance University Basketball League (UBL) this August, with Monash University claiming the wins at the 2026 Uni of the Court 3x3 tournament on Friday, hosted by RMIT Active.

Competing against eight Victorian universities in a high-energy day of competition, Monash delivered a standout performance, with the Men’s 1 team and Women’s 2 team both crowned champions. The results reflect the growing strength of basketball at Monash and the depth of talent across our student-athlete program.

Adding to the achievement, both winning teams have now secured qualification for the King of the Court World Championships in November, providing another exciting opportunity to represent Monash on an international stage.

The success is more than just silverware - it provides a strong platform leading into the 3x3 Nationals in May and offers athletes a valuable taste of representing Monash against other universities. With the UBL tipping off later this year, experiences like this help prepare players for the intensity, pride and team spirit that come with competing on a national stage.

For many students, tournaments like Uni of the Court are the first opportunity to wear the Monash colours in high-level inter-university competition - where every game matters and Team Monash pride is on full display.

As excitement builds for Monash’s first UBL campaign, performances like these show the future is bright, and Monash is ready to make its mark on the national stage.
