Posthumous awards

If a student has passed away, a family member can request a posthumous award. This is subject to approval by the University Council.

The family has three options:

  • in attendance graduation, with a family member representing the deceased student at an official celebration
  • in absentia graduation, with a family member receiving the award certificate by mail
  • a private occasion where the family receives the award from the student’s faculty.

The family can advise Monash Connect of their preferred option by submitting an enquiry through MoVA.
