Finding accommodation

Before you leave home, make sure to organise short-term accommodation. You’ll need a place to stay in Melbourne while you look for something longer term.

Temporary accommodation

Check out our list of short-term accommodation options. These private providers offer discounted rates to Monash students, their families and visitors. Contact them directly – you’ll need to give credit card details to make a booking.

Long-term accommodation

We recommend that you also consider your long-term accommodation options, such as:

  • on-campus
  • homestay
  • purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA)
  • off-campus (e.g. private rental and share housing).

On-campus, PBSA and homestay options are very popular and in high demand. Because places are limited, you can apply with the appropriate service before you leave home. If accepted, you’ll be given a move-in date after you pay a rental deposit.

Don’t arrange off-campus accommodation (such as private rentals) from overseas. You should always inspect a long-term property before you sign a rental agreement (lease) or pay upfront.
