On-campus eExams (Malaysia & Suzhou)
Semester one final assessments (8–26 June)
You’re expected to attend your on-campus eExam in person. You can apply to change the location of your final assessment only if you’re participating in a Monash-facilitated program overseas at the time of your scheduled final assessment (e.g. GIG, Monash Global Campus Intensives).
You won’t be able to sit your on-campus eExam remotely if you’re away on holiday or travelling, so plan ahead and avoid booking a trip until after Friday 26 June.
Step 1: Check your timetable
Your final assessment timetable will be available in Allocate+. It’ll tell you if you have any on-campus eExams and the type of eExam you have. You should check your timetable regularly and just before exam day to make sure there hasn’t been any last-minute change to your assessment details.Step 2: Get your laptop/pc and smartphone ready
- Check the device and system specifications and use our secure device test to confirm your laptop is set up correctly to run an eExam
- If you have an eExam using Safe Exam Browser, download and test the software before exam day.
- Contact Exam Support if you need any help setting up your device.
Step 3: Learn how to access your eExam
- Read the emails we send you about preparing for your exams.
- Bookmark the link to the eExam platform: https://eassessment.monash.edu.
- Make sure you know your Monash account password as you’ll be using an incognito browser window on the day.
- You’ll also need to use Multi-factor authentication (Okta) to log in on the day.
- If you’re new to eExams, try out our General Knowledge Practice exam to familiarise yourself with the software.
Step 4: Prepare everything you’ll need on the day
You need to bring:
- a laptop – fully charged – and your charging cable/plug in case you need to access power. You can also bring a battery pack if you have one
- headphones with a working microphone, so exams staff can communicate with you online if required
- your M-Pass (student ID) or a government-issued photo ID
- any materials authorised for your exam (e.g. calculator)
- if your eExam requires some handwritten answers:
- a blue or black pen, or an HB or 2B pencil
- pre-printed answer sheets (available in the exam room)
- your smartphone, to photograph and upload your handwritten answers
Step 5: Know the eExam rules
Check the authorised materials for your eExam and familiarise yourself with the latest eExam rules. This is important, as there are serious consequences for plagiarism, collusion and cheating.
Step 1
On the day of your on-campus eExam, you should aim to arrive at your allocated exam room at least 30 minutes before your exam is due to start. Plan your travel to campus in advance to avoid unnecessary delays and stress on the day.
Step 2
When you arrive at the campus, make your way to your allocated exam room (as shown in Allocate+) and find your seat.
Step 3
Get yourself ready to start your exam:
- connect your laptop and smartphone to Monash-Malaysia Wi-Fi
- place your student ID face up on your desk
- pack away any materials not authorised for your exam
- put your phone and smart watch on silent and place face-down on your desk
- put any bags under your desk and keep the aisles clear
- if your exam requires you to draw or hand-write answers to certain questions, collect the required answer sheets from the invigilators. If blank working sheets have been authorised for your exam, you can request from the invigilators
- open a new Chrome Incognito window before you log into your eExam.
Recorded eExams: 30 minutes before your scheduled start time, click the Check in for exam button and follow the instructions on your screen to complete the online check-in process and begin your exam.
During your exam, you must not speak with other students or persons outside the University. You should only communicate with an exam supervisor or exam staff. There are serious consequences for plagiarism, collusion and cheating.
Security cameras will be in operation in every exam room on campus. Where any of our monitoring identifies a suspected breach of exam rules, footage of your exam session and session logs may be referred to a Monash faculty administrator for investigation.
If your eExam has a question which requires you to download, modify and upload a file, you have to complete the upload before your exam time ends (we may not be able to assess your work if you don’t).
If you need any assistance during your on-campus exam, raise your hand to alert on-site support staff. Please be patient as they may be attending to another student.
Rest and movement breaks (AAA students)
If you’ve been permitted additional rest/movement time for your exam, you’ll need to let your online support staff know when you want to take a break, and again when you return. They’ll monitor the time you leave and return and ensure your remaining exam time is updated.
During your break, you need to stay in the designated rest break area. While on break, you're not permitted to access any exam material or to continue working on your exam.
If you need to lie down or go to the bathroom, just let the exams staff know.
Keep an eye on how much exam time you have left and manage your rest time carefully so you don’t run out of time to finish your exam. Rest/movement time can't be converted to working time.
Finishing your eExam
Once you've submitted your eExam, check with the invigilators if you can leave the room. Take any working sheets and your personal belongings with you.
Handwritten responses
When your exam time ends, you have to stop writing. If you’re seen writing on your answer sheets after your exam has finished, it’ll be reported to your Chief Examiner.
Before you leave the room, you'll need to upload photos of your handwritten answers. Follow the instructions on your screen and smartphone – you have 30 minutes to do this. If you have any problems uploading your answers, raise your hand and our exam support staff will help you.
Once you've finished uploading your answers, you’ll need to gather your pre-printed answer sheets together, clip them, and drop them inside the box in your exam room.
