Xavier Ho

Dr Xavier Ho is a first-generation and queer Taiwanese migrant who lives and works in Naarm / Melbourne. Xavier is a Lecturer in Interaction Design at Monash Art, Design and Architecture. He did a PhD in game studies by accident after attending a few game jams and realising that research doesn't always have to be about numbers, but it can be about people and stories as well. Since finishing his PhD in 2019 in game studies and realising just how queer the industry is, he is undertaking research projects that centres LGBTQIA+ game-making as a storytelling vehicle for social good.
Xavier has lived in Taiwan, the United States, Canada, and later on in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. He joined Monash in the middle of pandemic lockdown in 2020 and had quite a career change from nearly a decade of being a software engineer. He is the Chief Examiner of MADA Internships, and he also teaches into various Interaction Design/UX units in the Design Department. He enjoys musical theatre and performs in community venues and a good cup of hot chocolate
