Summer Najjar
YEAR 2 RURAL PROGRAM

"The hospital and GP placements were eye opening in terms of the vast range of cases that came through. During my medical imaging placement day, I even managed to see two patients with severe abdominal ascites, whose conditions’ extent would rarely be observed in a metropolitan setting. The SES visit was also highly beneficial in terms of learning about the challenges involved in retrieving a rural patient."

STUDING IN SALE

"One of the fantastic things about placement at Sale Hospital is the small teams of doctors, registrars and interns. With this in mind, my advice would be to spend as much time as you can with the team and be proactive in putting your hand up to assist when required. If you do this, you will feel like a really valued member of the team and have opportunities you just wouldn’t get in a metro hospital."

WHAT’S ON IN SALE

“We visited many wineries around the region after trying their wines at the Tinamba Food and Wine Festival. We went to lakes and beaches when the weather was nice or when we got the afternoon off. We went on hikes in all kinds of terrains at Wilsons Prom and Tarra Bulga National Park. All these things combined made it impossible to leave the Gippsland region.”

Golden Beach, Sale
MY SALE RECOMMENDATIONS

"Definitely Golden Beach if you want to relax or go for a swim on a warm weekend. I’d also recommend heading out to play a round at the local golf course in Sale or try some luck fishing in one of the nearby rivers. Sale also has some great local restaurants that are certainly worth trying!"
