My project this semester explores themes surrounding the overlooked trace, mark making and the studio environment. Part one of this project, ‘Traces of an Unknown Artist’, is a series of hand cut screenprints. Taken from tracings collected in my studio, these screenprints have been enlarged in various sizes and printed in muted colours. This is done to reflect the ever-changing nature of the studio environment. The second part of the project is an ongoing series of dry-point etchings, ‘Copper Cutting Mat’. These prints record the traces that I make in my own work, illustrating the delicate and intimate moments of an artist’s practice.
