Re-Sequence - Re-using Plastic for Innovative Habitats is about connecting local communities with Melbourne’s iconic Yarra River, while addressing the environmental issue of plastic waste that pollutes the water ways. Through collection and repurposing of plastic waste structures will be formed along the river, encouraging local communities and wildlife to re-engage and re-inhabit the river.
Community based programs will be implemented to educate local communities on the plastic issue and help clean up their section of the Yarra River. Incorporating litter traps for the collection of waste and storage area, a workshop area for processing and a communal space. Structures will be designed specifically for each local community and wildlife species at each of the initial chosen sites which are Southwharf Promenade, Herring Island Reserve, Dight’s Falls Reserve, and Wilson’s Reserve.
