Financial Support
Members of Monash University's Elite Student Performer Support Program are eligible to apply for a travel grant of between $100 and $1,000 to support your participation in your registered sport, at an International or National event (conditions apply).
A limited number of the following grants are available each year:
- Elite Student Performer Travel Grant
- World University Representative Travel Grant
- Elite Student Performer Varsity Grant
Applications for each grant are assessed in March with a limited number of these grants available each year, and are dependant on funding. Please note that not all applications are successful. Students will need to explain in detail, the specifics of the event, their enrolment in the University and how the funding will help them in their competition.

Application Criteria

The following criteria must be met to be eligible to apply for a financial grant.
- You must be currently enrolled as a student at Monash University.
- You must be a registered member of the ESPS program.
- You must be competing/performing regularly at an elite level (representing your state or country).
- Grants are allocated exclusively to students competing in their registered sport.
- You must apply for your grant at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
To be eligible to apply, the event must be:
- an International or National University sporting or performance event
- an event recognised by a relevant governing body for that discipline
The following will be taken into consideration when assessing applications:
- The level of competition in the sport / discipline.
- The location of the event - please note we are able to support predominantly overseas travel, and in some cases, domestic travel.
- The student’s enrolment status at the university (Full Time, Part Time, Deferred, Overload) and their subject load per semester.
- The level of funding received from the National/International sporting body, sponsorship, event organizers, external grants etc.
- The level / standard of competition in National / International comparisons
- The student’s involvement with Monash University. e.g. volunteering, Faculty programs, Club Programs, Leadership programs, mentoring, other etc (not just relating to their sport)
- Please note, students are eligible for a total of up to $1,000 in combined grants per calendar year

World University Representative Travel Grant

This grant supports a current Monash University student who has been selected to represent the University and/or their country at an International University sporting or performance event such as the World University Games, World University Championship or a FISU or Continental University Sport federation level event.
Student Responsibilities
In return for financial funding provided by Monash University, it would be greatly appreciated that recipients make themselves available for media-related communication such as comments, photos and/or agreed functions by its Marketing and Media Department.
