Professor Wayne Hodgson

Dean of the Sub-Faculty of Health Sciences

Professor Wayne Hodgson is the Dean of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University, Australia. In this role he oversees the School of Nursing & Midwifery, the School of Rural Health, the School of Primary & Allied Health Care, and the medical course.

He is also the Chair of the Australian/New Zealand University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) Consortium Board, which manages the administration of UCAT for selection into medicine and dentistry courses in Australia and New Zealand. Professor Hodgson recently completed a nine-year tenure on the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) Board, responsible for primary and secondary school education curriculum and assessment in Victoria.

With extensive experience as a member and Chair of the Australian Medical Council (AMC) medical school assessment teams, he has evaluated medical school programs in countries including China, Samoa and Singapore. Recently elected as President of the Western Pacific Association for Medical Education (WPAME), he is committed to advancing medical education in the region.

An internationally recognised toxinologist, Professor Hodgson has authored over 190 publications, including manuscripts in Nature, PNAS and Molecular & Cellular Proteomics. He also serves on several journal editorial boards.
