“Monash University’s strong global reputation and ranking in the world’s top 100 universities prompted me to complete my PhD there, in the field of health service management” says Associate Professor Wadi Alonazi at King Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “I felt that this doctoral program would meet my personal and professional ambitions, making it an obvious choice.”
Prior to undertaking his PhD at Monash, Wadi had a wealth of experience in health administration in Saudi Arabia. He led the establishment of the Business Development Department at King Fahad Medical City, the largest medical facility in Saudi Arabia, and was involved in strategic planning and policy review for the Institute of Health Sciences and Taj Medical Insurance. He also completed a Masters in Health and Hospital Administration from King Saud University in 2003.
“My PhD opened more doors for me by allowing me to be involved in more healthcare projects and research studies as well as building my career in academia. It certainly helped to me reach my current position as Associate Professor in the Health Administration Department at King Saud University.”
Throughout his PhD, Wadi wanted to further develop his teaching skills before returning to Saudi Arabia. This led him to also complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at Monash.
“As an academic, I am constantly applying the teaching and learning skills that I have been exposed to during my time at Monash. I also reflect on my Monash experience and utilise the knowledge I gained there to provide the best possible learning environment for my students.”
Wadi’s PhD experience at Monash is one that he proudly shares with his students at King Saud University. “I regularly recommend Monash University as an excellent choice for pursuing postgraduate studies to my students, particularly my high-performing students.”
