The Victorian Heart Institute: A Town Hall
The Victorian Heart Institute is a newly established Monash University initiative led by Professor Stephen Nicholls. The Institute will be a thriving cardiovascular research community extending from idea to implementation, bench to bedside and beyond, and will also form a key platform for strategic education and teaching initiatives.
Join Professor Nicholls and his team for a Zoom chat to discuss:
- The Victorian Heart Hospital and Institute
- Plans, values, mindset and solutions
- Most importantly, how the Institute can collaborate with you
Professor Stephen Nicholls is a world-renowned cardiologist, and leads the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH), due to open at Monash University's Clayton campus in 2022. Prior to this he was the Deputy Director and Heart Health Theme Leader at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, Professor of Cardiology at the University of Adelaide and a cardiologist at the Central Adelaide Local Health Network. He is a Principal Research Fellow of the National Health and Medical Research Council, an inaugural Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and is Honorary Secretary of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.
His work spans the translational spectrum from the lab bench to the bedside, with a focus on understanding the factors that promote plaque formation, novel vascular imaging and leadership of large scale clinical trials of new therapies designed to reduce the risk of heart disease. He has extensive academic and industry collaborations, having raised more than $100 million in research funding and has written more than 770 manuscripts, book chapters and conference proceedings.
