Venue and Heritage

The Monash Prato Centre is located in the heart of Tuscany, a region synonymous with intellectual awakening. Our sessions will take place in a city known for its rich textile history and vibrant cultural scene, located just a short distance from the architectural marvels of Florence.

  • Palazzo Vaj: Our primary venue, a 14th-century palace that reflects the elegance of Tuscan history while housing modern academic facilities.
  • The Terrace: During breaks, we encourage you to enjoy the views of the Prato skyline, dominated by the Duomo di Prato and its unique green-and-white marble facade.

Exploring Prato & Beyond

While our schedule is rigorous, we hope you find time to experience the local hospitality.

  • Culinaria: Prato is famous for its Cantucci (almond biscotti). A visit to the historic Antonio Mattei bakery is a must.
  • History: The Castello dell'Imperatore, the only example of Swabian architecture in Central-Northern Italy, is within walking distance of the campus.
  • Logistics: The Prato Porta al Serraglio station is just steps away, offering frequent connections to Florence (20 minutes) and Pistoia.

Essential Information

  • Wi-Fi: Access is available via the Eduroam network or the guest portal provided in your registration pack.
  • Registration Desk: Located in the main foyer of Palazzo Vaj; our staff are available to assist with any local inquiries or transport needs.

We look forward to the insights, debates, and connections that will undoubtedly emerge. May the surroundings of Tuscany inspire your research and strengthen our collective mission to improve the lives of our smallest patients.

Enjoy the symposium and your stay in Italy!
