The School of Rural Health is committed to improved health outcomes in rural communities, and a sustainable rural health workforce. With eight clinical teaching sites, our footprint stretches from Mildura in the north-west to Bairnsdale in the south-east.

Extended Rural Cohort
We deliver the Extended Rural Cohort of the Monash MD, which guarantees extended training in rural and regional Victoria. Enjoy learning in small groups with experienced and passionate clinicians who'll know you by name. Get lots of hands-on clinical experience.
End-to-End Rural Cohort
If you're interested in medical practice in rural or regional Australia once you graduate, the Monash End-to-End Rural Cohort gives you the chance to experience it while you study the Monash MD.
Indigenous Pathways
Explore the pathways available to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Regional Training Hubs
Now there's a way to stay in a regional or rural area to continue your medical training after you graduate. Monash's two regional training hubs are coordinating specialist training in north-west Victoria and Gippsland.
Support for students on rural/regional placements
Placements are available across north-west and south-east Victoria for health professions students from Monash and other universities. Our clinical training sites are attached to regional hospitals and partner with community-based health services, with accommodation close by.
