Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)

“Physiotherapy combines my love for science, working with people, and physical activity. I am an avid soccer player, play the drums, and generally love doing anything active or sport-related – tennis, rock climbing, badminton, and hiking.

I’ve always loved science and been fascinated by the human body. I worked at a bank for a few years before deciding to go back to university as a mature age student to pursue a career in physiotherapy. Monash was an easy first preference because I’d heard such good things about the course, from both graduates and current students who I spoke to at University open days.

The small cohort of students I’ve studied with have become like a big family (affectionately known as the ‘physio-pham’). I have really enjoyed being taught by passionate people who are leaders in their respective fields. I’m really looking forward to starting major placements in third year and putting into practice what I have learned.

In terms of my future career, I’m trying to stay open minded. The course has opened my eyes to the large scope of practice and the various streams of physiotherapy work, so I am keen to start placements and see what I enjoy after getting some more real-world experience. Whatever happens I know the course will give me a great starting base to build on after graduating.”
