Master of Dietetics
Going through secondary school I loved food, science and medicine, and I wanted to follow a career path that would allow me to help others. Combining all these interests equals a career in nutrition and dietetics. After completing Year 12, I enrolled in a Bachelor of Nutrition Science at Monash University. Towards the end of my degree I was keen to do further study to refine my skills and knowledge, so the Masters of Dietetics felt like a natural continuation.
One of the best parts about studying within a smaller degree such as nutrition and dietetics is how incredibly close and supportive the cohort is. The lecturers and staff are kind and supportive, whilst being excellent academic mentors for our studies.
I’ve completed three placements so far including research projects for both Frankston Hospital and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, and a clinical placement at Box Hill Hospital. All of these have been thoroughly enjoyable and tremendous learning experiences.
Studying at Monash has given me a great platform to start my career. I have gained and refined a vast array of skills from my studies, well beyond anything I could have imagined only a few years ago. Upon completion of my Masters of Dietetics I will be qualified to launch my career as a dietitian and there are always new innovative positions and roles emerging for dietitians and nutrition scientists.
