Bachelor of Nutrition Science
Halfway through my Commerce degree, I discovered my passion for food and decided to finish that degree and continue on with nutrition. I chose the Bachelor of Nutrition Science at Monash because of its reputation as a great university in Australia - as well as worldwide.
I’m doing my work placement in the food industry this semester and learning so much at Jenny Craig. The people there are so friendly and always more than happy to help me if needed. It’s a great environment where I have the opportunity to translate the nutrition knowledge I’ve gained at university into practical, real-life situations for a real company. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience which really gives me a taste of what working in the food industry will be like.
Monash also invites researchers, sports dieticians, public health nutritionists and food industry professionals to talk to the cohort which gives us a greater insight into these professions.
I’ve made some truly amazing friends at Monash and even gotten to know the lecturers well. Both genuinely want to support you which makes the university experience not only that much more valuable but enjoyable too!
I’ve loved my time studying Nutrition Science at Monash University but to get the most out of your degree, you’ll have to put in the hard yards. Really strive for good grades and be involved in societies as well as extracurricular activities outside uni – not just in the final year but throughout your degree. I really cannot emphasise enough on how important these are for finding a job!
