Please join us on July 23rd, at the inaugural SkIIN Discovery Program Symposium, bringing together experts in inflammation, informatics and neoplasia for stimulating discussion of the current and future impact of AI in skin research and healthcare.

The SkIIN (Skin Inflammation, Informatics and Neoplasia) Discovery Program is a Monash University and The Alfred partnership harnessing cutting-edge technology, genomics and immunotherapy to gain insights into disease processes, and develop novel approaches to disease management.

To mark the launch, SkIIN’s Leads and Co-Hosts Professor Johannes Kern and Professor Victoria Mar invite you to hear from three gamechangers who are shaping the future of dermatology and healthcare AI around the world.

Program

Refreshments will be served in the foyer after the event

Meet our speakers

Professor Harald Kittler is an award-winning Austrian dermatologist and Head of the Vienna Dermatologic Imaging & Informatics Research group at the Medical University of Vienna, where he also oversees the dermatology residency and curriculum. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in skin imaging, dermato-oncology, and the application of artificial intelligence in early skin cancer detection. He’s heavily engaged in global dermatology networks and is well-regarded as a mentor, reviewer and editor.

Professor Colin Fleming is a Consultant Dermatologist, and a Mohs’ surgeon based in Scotland, known for embracing medical innovation. Professor holds multiple concurrent roles, including at the Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, as the NHS Tayside Director of Innovation, the Co-director of TayMed Connect, the research lead of the NHS Scotland AI skin cancer consortium, the Director of Innoscot, and the NHS lead for the Tay Health Tech project. His group have created a DICOM based pipeline creating AI ready data and are currently running the second phase of an international industry challenge using this data for real world use of algorithms in the primary/secondary care interface.

Ms Céline Pattaroni leads the Computational Immunology group within the Mucosal Immunology lab at Monash University, where she leverages computational tools to integrate multi-omics data from clinical samples. Her research focuses on childhood asthma and atopic dermatitis, utilizing a multi-omics integrative approach that includes microbiome profiling, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. This approach provides a holistic view of biological systems, enabling the identification of disease-associated molecular patterns. Her work advances our understanding of chronic immune conditions, and contributes to the development of precision medicine.
