The research ambitions of the Jones group lie with the development of new and fundamentally important areas of main group (and transition metal) chemistry which challenge previously held views on the structure, bonding and stability of hydrido, low coordination number and/or low oxidation state metal complexes. In many cases, the novel complex types developed in the group were previously thought incapable of ambient existence. Although our contributions to the fundamental aspects of modern main group chemistry have been internationally recognised, we are also leaders in the application of highly reactive, low oxidation state systems to synthesis, catalysis, materials chemistry, hydrogen storage etc. If you would like to learn more about our work, or join the group, please feel free to contact Cameron directly.
