Chemical Safety Committee

The Chemical Safety Committee provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the safe and effective management of chemicals across the University, supporting continuous improvement, compliance, and risk reduction.

Operation

As a sub-committee of MUOHSC, the Chemical Safety Committee provides primary governance and expertise on chemical safety across Monash research and teaching activities.

The Chemical Safety Committee will:

  • Review hazard and incident reports relating to chemical use and management.
  • Review outcomes of Monash OHSMS audits relating to chemical safety, including audits and inspections by State and Federal regulators, and recommend priority areas for future audits.
  • Consider matters relating to chemical use and management, including procedure development, training, risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation
  • Advise Health, Safety and Wellbeing on the management of these issues and provide recommendations to the Monash University OHS Commtitee.
