HSW inductions

HSW induction programs and resources help our community stay safe and healthy while working or studying.

If you’re starting at Monash as a staff member, honours/graduate student or contractor, there are some things you’ll need to know before arriving at one of our locations. Check the tabs below to see what you need to do.

All new staff (including honours and graduate students) need to complete our mandatory online and local area inductions.

Step 1: Complete the online induction

Log into MyDevelopment using your Monash account. In your Learning catalogue, click HSW Staff Induction, then select the Request button, then Launch to start.

Just make sure you’re on a desktop or iPad (the module isn’t mobile-friendly).

Access your learning catalogue

Once you’ve completed the module, it’ll be added to your training record (you’ll also receive an email to confirm this).

Step 2: Complete your local area induction

Next, you’ll need to complete your local area induction. This covers safety information specific to your building and work area.

Your supervisor (or their delegate) will deliver this induction. All the details are on our HSW local area induction page.

If you’ve been contracted to work at a Monash University location by Buildings and Property, you’ll need to register and complete a contractor or visitor induction (docx) before you arrive.
