Pets on campus
Pets are welcome on Monash campus grounds, but they must be restrained at all times. If your pet causes a nuisance or behaves aggressively, it may be banned from campus. Pets are not allowed inside buildings, except for:
- guide dogs and guide dogs in training
- accredited assistance or therapy dogs
- animals used in approved research projects
- animals involved in theatrical performances.
Events and activities involving pets
If you're planning an event that includes animals, you’ll need to complete a risk management plan that considers:
- the suitability of the environment
- allergies and sensitivities
- the animal’s temperament and general health
- supervision arrangements
- emergency and first aid response.
Bringing your dog to campus
If you bring a dog to campus, you must:
- keep it on a short lead (no longer than 1.5 metres)
- maintain effective voice or hand control and keep it in sight
- prevent it from threatening or attacking people or other dogs (follow any council requirements that apply)
- clean up after your dog and dispose of waste properly.
Dogs are not permitted on specialised sports surfaces (e.g. synthetic playing fields), to prevent damage from digging or urination.
