On behalf of Skin Discovery Program and Monash University we are pleased to invite you to attend the Skin Discovery Symposium 2026.

Skin Discovery was established to strengthen and support collaborative skin research across basic science, translational research, and clinical disciplines. The symposium brings together researchers, clinicians, and students to showcase innovative research, foster new collaborations, and highlight emerging opportunities within the skin research community.

The symposium will feature:

  • Invited presentations from leading national and international experts
  • Updates across key Skin Discovery research themes
  • Early Career Researcher and Rising Star "Flash" Presentations
  • Networking opportunities with researchers and clinicians from across the sector

Yevgeniy “Eugene” Semenov
Assistant Professor
Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School


Dr. Yevgeniy (“Eugene”) R. Semenov, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and  Co-Director of the Oncodermatology Program at MGH. He is a board-certified dermatologist and physician-scientist whose work focuses on the intersection of  dermatology, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine, with a particular  emphasis on cutaneous oncology and melanoma.

Rubeta Matin
Consultant Dermatologist - Oxford University Hospitals
NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

Dr Rubeta Matin PhD FRCP [Derm] is a Consultant Dermatologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Oxford since 2015.

She is an academic dermatologist and a nationally recognised skin cancer leader having published >130 peer reviewed publications. At Oxford she is currently Dermatology Skin Cancer Research Lead actively delivering national and international clinical research/trials.

Amaya Virós
Skin Cancer & Ageing Group Leader
Cancer Research UK, Manchester institute, United Kingdom

Amaya is a Clinician Scientist who leads the Skin Cancer and Ageing group and undertakes clinical practice in dermatology. Her goal is to elucidate the mechanisms that drive metastasis in skin cancer patients and devise novel therapeutic strategies to treat or prevent metastatic spread.

Amaya obtained her medical degree from the University of Barcelona, before her clinical training in Dermatology and Venereology at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona

Prof Juan Su
Director, Department of Dermatology, Xiangya Dermatological Hospital, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University - China

Chief Physician, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor.
Recipient of the National Outstanding Young Physician Award.
Major research direction: Clinical diagnosis & treatment as well as pathogenic mechanism research of acral melanoma.

Dr Yeye Guo
Associate Professor, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, China

Dr Yeye Guo is a dermatologist, Associate Professor at Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. She also expanded her research background as a Visiting Scholar at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Her research fundamentally focuses on the tumor microenvironment's role in melanoma progression and translational therapeutics. Dr. Guo has published a series of high-impact articles in prestigious journals, including Science Advances, JECCR, MedComm, and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.

She is currently leading a research project funded by NSFC, investigating the underlying mechanisms of the "immune desert" phenotype in melanoma and exploring potential therapeutic strategies. For her scientific contributions, Dr. Guo has been recognized with the China Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Award and Furong Plan for Young Talents of Hunan Province.
