Professors Michael Fahey and Rod Hunt receive a 2021 NHMRC Synergy Award

Congratulations to Professor Michael Fahey and Professor Rod Hunt who are part of a collaboration lead out of University of Queensland that received a NHMRC Synergy Award for 2021.
The award of $5,000,000 will strive to give those with Cerebral Palsy (CP) the best chance of treatment by bringing forward the timeline of diagnosis.
“We have already shown that early intervention with physical therapies can make a difference to how children with CP develop. In the future, we hope to provide treatments personalised to the specific brain problem to improve the outcomes for children with CP and their families.”
Professors Fahey and Hunt from the Department of Paediatrics, as part of a team of experts from all over Australia, are privileged to be working on such an important topic and hope bringing the age of cerebral palsy diagnosis forward will mean more timely and effective treatments.
“All the team are passionate about making a difference to children with CP and their families,” Professor Fahey said.
