Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine established
Professor Eric Morand
Truly a red-letter day for the School of Clinical Sciences (SCS), the Victorian Heart Institute, Hudson Institute of Medical Research, and Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation as they now comprise the Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine.
Driving research from discovery to clinical trials, from implementation to world-leading health outcomes and having direct access to patient populations through their campuses and community services, these four bodies have integrated to forge ahead with academic excellence and innovative commercialisation in the Monash Technology Precinct.
Professor Eric Morand has been appointed as Dean of the newly-established Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine. Recognised globally as an academic physician-scientist, Professor Morand joined Monash as a senior lecturer in 1996 and is currently Head of the SCS at Monash Health, a position he has held since 2011.
Professor Morand said “My vision for the Sub-Faculty is for it to be a critical contributor to Monash’s purpose of world class research, education, and health impact. Together we are stronger, and the formation of our Sub-Faculty with four bodies already powerhouses in their chosen areas, means the trajectory of the Sub-Faculty will be, without a doubt, stellar. I am excited to lead such excellent professionals and can’t wait to get started.”
