The Australian’s 2025 Research rankings

Two exceptional researchers from the  School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health have been recognized for their contributions to medical science in The Australian's 2025 Research list. Professor Peter Ebeling and Professor Ben W Mol have been named the top researchers in their respective fields, showcasing Monash University’s commitment to medical innovation and excellence.

Professor Peter Ebeling AO has been named as the leading researcher in endocrinology. As Head of the Department of Medicine and inaugural Director of the Australian Institute of Musculoskeletal Science (AIMSS), Professor Ebeling has made remarkable contributions to medical research, including the discovery of the hormone PTHrP during his doctoral studies, and extensive research in bone health conducted at prestigious institutions like the Mayo Clinic and Oxford University.

“Research is a team sport; Monash University and the NHMRC have allowed me to assemble a very talented team of postdocs and PhD students with whom I would like to share this achievement,” said Professor Ebeling.

Professor Ben W Mol has been named the leading researcher in reproductive health, through his leadership of the Evidence-based Women's Health Care Research Group which focuses on critically evaluating medical interventions to ensure patient safety and effectiveness. His research philosophy centers on developing robust evidence through large-scale collaborative randomized clinical trials.

Monash University was also recognised as Australia’s leader in the research field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology - congratulations to all our researchers from the SCS Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology who have all contributed to this incredible achievement.

These prestigious recognitions not only celebrate individual achievements but also underscore Monash University's significant role in driving medical research forward, pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge and potential medical breakthroughs.
