Professor Sandra Eades AO to join Monash Public Health

Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Professor Sandra Eades AO will join the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in August 2026.

Professor Eades is one of Australia’s most distinguished leaders in Indigenous health, public health and medical education. Her research is recognised internationally in the top one per cent globally for the field of Indigenous health.

An exceptional clinician, researcher and academic leader, Professor Eades brings extensive experience across Indigenous epidemiology, youth mental health, chronic disease prevention, medical education and health systems leadership.

She joins Monash from the University of Melbourne, where she served as Deputy Dean Indigenous and Rowden White Chair. She has also held senior leadership roles including Dean of Medicine at Curtin University, where she led the medical school through its establishment phase.

Professor Eades has made a significant national contribution to health and research policy, including as a Council Member of the National Health and Medical Research Council. In 2022, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for her distinguished service to medical research, education and Indigenous health.

At Monash, Professor Eades will strengthen the Faculty’s research, education and engagement in Indigenous health, while contributing to the development of future Indigenous health leaders.
