Record Attendance at Music for the Valley
Music for the Valley attracted a record crowd this year with 220 people registering for the free family event.
Held in Churchill on 5 September, the concert was a collaboration between Monash Medical Orchestra (MMO), Monash Jazz Band, and the talented students and staff from the Kurnai College Band.
It featured a dynamic program of jazz, classical and cinematic favourites, and pop up performances around Latrobe Valley from MMO.
Associate Professor Marianne Tare, Director of Monash Rural Health Churchill, said the concert had grown steadily over nine years, garnering increasing support from the local community.
“The long-term success of this event demonstrates the strong connection between Monash and the local community,” Assoc. Prof Tare said. “The Monash medical program has hundreds of students studying and completing their clinical placement in the region. Monash Rural Health Churchill is also home to the first year of the graduate entry medical program, teaching more than 100 students a year.”
