Program Title (AHEGS): Collaborative Indo-Pacific Health Care Program

Program Description (AHEGS):

Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences students enrolled in this program go to a developing country to participate in local health service interprofessional healthcare immersion (acute, rehab or community).  Students are placed in small interprofessional groups in a healthcare setting to experience the healthcare context in the overseas country.

Collaborative Online International Learning: Crossing Borders in Health Professions Education (2025, 2024)

Program Title (AHEGS): Collaborative Online International Learning: Crossing Borders in Health Professions Education

Program Description (AHEGS):
Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences students enrolled in this program participate in an online curriculum alongside peers representing diverse health professions, cultures and nations, in a global classroom environment. Students collaborate within small, interprofessional, and intercultural teams to deepen their understanding of global healthcare challenges and explore innovative solutions.

Degree/Disciplines:
Eligible students within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University Australia, and Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia.

Location: Online
Duration: 4 (2 hours) sessions spread over 3-4 weeks, totalling 8 hours
Dates: October
Selection criteria: Selected students need to have completed 48 credit points at the time of application (undergraduate), a minimum WAM 60%, exemplary track-record. Further selection criteria may apply.

FitSkills Program (2019)Program Title (AHEGS): FitSkills Program

Program Description (AHEGS):

FitSkills is an evidence-based, student-mentored exercise program for young people with a disability. Students enrolled in this program volunteer to mentor a young person with a disability for 30 hours over 12 weeks. The exercise program is developed by FitSkills according to international best practice.

Program Details: run by La Trobe University.
Student mentor paired with young disabled person (13-30yrs) for 1hr per week for 12 weeks.

Location: Hawthorn Leisure & Aquatic centre, Casey ARC Narre Warren & Aquahub Croydon.
Duration: total 30 hours over 12 weeks
Dates: March - September
Selection criteria: Students must have completed 48 credit points.

2025 Japan Grip Program

Program Title (AHEGS): 2025 Japan Grip Program

Description (AHEGS):

Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences students enrolled in this program design and participate in voluntary workplace experience that broadens personal and professional perspectives on social issues in the context of health services. Student participation develops skills that enhance employability: communication, teamwork, leadership, appreciation of cultural diversity and problem solving. They will also gain an understanding of the workplace culture and multidisciplinary team environments. Enrolled students have participated in diverse activities including health service delivery in remote Australia, working with local NGOs, and delivering health services overseas.

Degree/Disciplines: Eligible students within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

Program Details:
Global engagement program partnering with Chiba University and Nagoya University, Japan.  A select group of health professions students were brought to Monash for a transformative 9 day 'GRIP' program.

Research internship program within the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health (Psychology)

Program Title (AHEGS): Research internship program

Program Description (AHEGS):

Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences students enrolled in this program volunteer to undertake a research internship program for up to 80 hours which aims to raise awareness of careers in research and improve students’ research and employability skills.

Program Information
This program supplements the theory-based learning students gain during their studies by giving them the opportunity for placement in internships within research laboratory settings with academic staff.  For detailed information on this program visit this website:

Program Description (AHEGS):

Program Details: Community health workplace activities at SLV.Global and other locations.
