Background:

I began my nursing career at the Alfred Hospital, Prahran, working in both acute medical and surgical units before moving into fertility nursing.

While working in hospitals and clinics, I developed an interest in occupational health and safety after observing the hazards and risks associated with shift work and the healthcare setting.

I studied a Graduate Certificate of Occupational Health & Safety at La Trobe University.  As Occupational Health Nurse Consultant, my work covers staff health surveillance, risk assessment, ergonomics, work-related immunisations, health promotion, first aid coordination and development of workplace health-related policy and procedure.

Special interests: Wellbeing, risk assessment and work-related immunisation.

Background:

I studied my nursing degree at RMIT University and completed my graduate year at the Austin Hospital in the spinal unit, and the acute medical and surgical areas.   I spent the majority of my career in critical care working in Emergency and Intensive Care, both in Australia and the UK. Before moving to the Monash Occupational Health team, I worked in fertility nursing specialising in fertility preservation, education and management.  Working in education and management, and seeing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the early stages, sparked my interest in occupational health and safety.  I plan to undertake a Graduate Certificate of Occupational Health & Safety in 2022.

As an Occupational Health Nurse Consultant, my work covers COVID-19 contact tracing and case management, as well as staff health surveillance, risk assessment, ergonomics, work-related immunisations, health promotion, first aid coordination and development of workplace health-related policy and procedure.
