Background:

I have been a qualified Division 1 nurse for over 20 years and in the specialist field of Occupational Health (OH) since 2005. My Occupational Health experience commenced in the UK providing OH services to a large hospital board as part of a large OH team.  After gaining my Graduate Diploma I gained a senior role in a rural satellite hospital. This involved coordination and implementation of clinics for immunisation, pre-employment, health surveillance, return to work, health promotion and all factors relating to health at work and wider public health issues.

During this time I also provided Occupational Health Services to employees within the private industrial sector (Coal Fired Power Plant and Aeroplane manufacturer)

I have worked within my current role at Monash since 2010 and currently job share with Occupational Health Nurse Consultant, Jennifer Dordevic. This has proved to be a diverse role increasing my skills and knowledge in First Aid Coordination, Ergonomics and Occupational Health issues facing staff working with animals, biologicals and chemicals.

Special Interests include Health Surveillance and Health Promotion.

Background:

I completed my nursing graduate year at the Alfred Hospital, Prahran.  I worked there in both acute general and surgical wards for three years before moving into fertility nursing.

While working in both hospitals and clinics, I developed an interest in occupational health and safety after observing the hazards and risks associated with shift work and the healthcare setting.

I studied a Graduate Certificate of Occupational Health & Safety at La Trobe University.  My role at Monash University is my first in occupational health after many years as a health and safety representative in previous jobs.  I work with the Occupational Health Nurse Consultants in the areas of health surveillance, ergonomic assessments, work-related immunisations, health promotion, first aid coordination and in developing workplace health-related policy and procedure.

Special interests: Wellbeing, ergonomics and work-related immunisations.
