Professor Arvind Sehgal and Team Awarded Prestigious ANZNN Research Award

L-R: Gill Nixon, Emma Yeomans, Arvind Sehgal
We are delighted to share that Adjunct Professor Arvind Sehgal and his team have been awarded the prestigious ANZNN Chiesi Best Neonatal Respiratory Research Award, which includes a $4,000 grant.
Professor Sehgal, along with Ms Emma Yeomans RN and Adjunct Clinical Professor Gill Nixon, conducted important research which demonstrated the benefits of kangaroo mother care (KMC) in very preterm infants. Their study showed that infants receiving KMC experienced higher mean oxygen saturations and greater cardiorespiratory stability compared to infants receiving traditional incubator care.
This outstanding research not only supports the World Health Organisation's recommendations for early and regular KMC but also provides valuable reassurance to healthcare teams and parents about its safety and effectiveness in very premature, ventilated infants.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Sehgal and his colleagues on this remarkable achievement.
