Thirty-five MNHS projects receive 2025 NHMRC Ideas Grant funding

MNHS researchers received 35 National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas Grants for 2025, worth over $42 million and announced yesterday by the Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Honourable Mark Butler MP.

The Ideas Grant scheme's objective is to support innovative and creative research projects addressing a specific question in any health and medical research area from discovery to implementation for researchers at all career stages.

Professor Edwina McGlinn from the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute received $1.7million for a project focused on utero corrections of craniofacial malformations, Professor Roger Daley from Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute received $1.027 million for a project focused on novel and therapeutically actionable signalling axis in poor prognosis cancers and Dr Ting Xia from Eastern Health Clinical School received $800,000 for a project focused on transforming opioid poisoning surveillance through novel technologies.

Congratulations to all of our successful recipients.
