Appointment of Dr Deb Mitchell as the Inaugural Senior Research Fellow within the EACH-Monash Partnership

In a significant milestone for the recently announced partnership between EACH and Monash University, Dr Deb Mitchell has been appointed as the inaugural Senior Research Fellow.

Dr Mitchell brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role with an impressive background in healthcare leadership, research, and education.

Dr Mitchell's journey to this esteemed position is a testament to her dedication and passion for advancing healthcare. With a rich background in research and a proven track record in leadership, she is well-equipped to spearhead the development and implementation of an organisational Research Strategy at EACH.

Research is one of three pillars of strategic work within the EACH-Monash Partnership, with the other two being education and innovation. Dr Michell’s appointment will not only guide the research direction but also embed a culture of research and support for research-active staff across the partnership over the coming years.

As Dr Mitchell steps into her new role, she will focus on diverse research areas such as healthcare delivery, patient outcomes, and innovative educational strategies for healthcare professionals that can be scaled to benefit broader populations.

“I am delighted to develop this role in the EACH-Monash Partnership. Community health is vital in supporting the health and wellbeing of our society. By building the research capability of community health clinicians and relationships with the university, we will enable research that demonstrates the value of community health.”

In addition to her leadership roles, Dr Mitchell has a strong academic background,  contributing to numerous research projects and publications, focusing on improving healthcare systems and patient care. Her work has been recognised for its impact on policy and practice, making her a respected figure in the field.

Dr Mitchell's commitment to education is evident through her involvement in developing training programs for healthcare professionals and will be vitally important for future allied health, and nursing and midwifery workforce planning. She has a passion for mentoring and supporting the next generation of healthcare leaders, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the challenges of the future.
