About the Finding Common Ground Student Grants
The Finding Common Ground Student Grants are grants up to the value of $5,000 each, available to student associations, clubs and/or societies awarded by Monash University. The grants aim to promote cross-cultural dialogue and learning across the diversity of Monash student communities.
Any Monash Student Organisation representative (MSA, MONSU Caulfield, MONSU Peninsula, MPSU, MGA, PPA), as well as official Monash student clubs, societies and groups in Australia an submit can application.
The grants can be used to fund training, support engagement with external organisations to promote cross-cultural and interfaith learning and to support the development of joint initiatives between two or more faith or cultural clubs or student societies.
What can you use the grant funding for?
As part of this grants scheme, student associations, clubs and/or societies are able to apply for funding to support one activity in one of the following areas:
- External learning and engagement
- Collaborative internal events and initiatives

Further information
- Applications will be assessed on whether they contribute to the objectives for the stream (as indicated above).
- Student associations, clubs and/or societies are able to apply for more than one grant.
- A maximum of $5,000 will be awarded per successful application. Successful applicants must have utilised grant funding and delivered the proposed initiative by December 31 2026 (in some instances, the date of the initiative may be negotiated, if the initiative is proposed for early-2027).
- For collaborative initiatives between student cultural or faith-based clubs or societies, you will only need to submit one application. We recommend that you work together on your application to ensure that the proposal reflects both clubs and societies visions for your collaboration.

As part of your application you will be required to provide a budget with estimated costs for your activity. A budget template is available to help you complete this section of your application.
If you are unable to provide exact costs, please provide estimated costs and a link to further information, where this is relevant. The REDI team may contact you if further information is required.
