Clarivate’s 2021 list of Highly Cited Researchers

Seven researchers from Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences have been named among the world’s most influential researchers in their fields as part of Clarivate’s 2021 list of Highly Cited Researchers.

The annual list determines the world’s top one per cent of researchers through a comprehensive data analysis, based on the number of highly cited papers researchers produce over an 11-year period.

Clarivate named 6,602 researchers from more than 70 countries and regions this year, in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences, and cross-field categories.

Australia has 332 highly cited researchers this year – five per cent of the total list – overtaking Germany as having the fourth most highly cited researchers, globally. Clarivate notes this is remarkable for a country the size of Australia with 25 million people compared to Germany’s 83 million.
