Student Ambassador Program

Walk-you-there-ambassadors

As part of the Student Crew, you would:

  • Support major university events, such as Open Day, Monash Change Day, Graduations, etc.
  • Create videos, testimonials and various social media content for our brand channels, To promote events and brand activities
  • Develop content to support student life engagement for primary Monash social channels
  • Experience the ‘behind the scenes’ of what it's like to plan a major event for Monash

You'll have opportunities to develop your employability soft skills and gain volunteer experience for your resume – all while sharing your personal experience at Monash.

The program is for at least 12 months, with the chance to extend into future years.

Monash-Experience

Along with getting the chance to share your experience with future students and peers, meet new people and gain valuable experience, you'll also receive:

  • A certificate of completion
  • Employability soft skills and volunteer experience for your resume
  • References and/or endorsements of specific skills (e.g. customer service, leadership, teamwork and communication)
  • An opportunity to participate in a mini ‘Channelling Your Voice’ workshop, to learn about social media, digital storytelling and producing content - plus free LinkedIn headshots
  • An opportunity to participate in an exclusive Career Connect workshop to help you identify specific accomplishments you’ve gained through this ambassador experience and how you could use this to stand out from future job applications and interviews
  • An opportunity to be appointed student ambassador team leaders for Open Day (paid casual position)
  • An opportunity to be nominated for the Student Volunteering Awards and/or an invitation to the celebratory end of year function
  • Monash merchandise pack
  • 2 x $100 gift cards (one per semester)

Student ambassadors

To be eligible for the Student Crew, you would need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed at least one year of study (second years and above)
  • Currently studying at a Monash campus in Australia
  • Have previously been an Open Day student ambassador (preferred)

Ideal students would have the following attributes:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A desire to share personal story and help others
  • Ability to speak positively about Monash
  • A friendly, caring approach and a willingness to go above and beyond
  • Complete tasks efficiently and with a good attitude

To successfully complete the program, you would need to commit to partaking in a combination of the following activities in order to complete the program:

  • Volunteer for at least three major University events, e.g. Open Day, Change Day, Graduations, Orientation (this includes attending mandatory in-person training for each event)
  • Create and submit at least two pieces of content for Monash event promotion (and brand activities, if necessary) for Monash social channels
  • Participate in at least one video / photoshoot for Monash marketing activities

Optional (as required): Support any event management tasks for major events e.g. up to five days experience in the UMAC office, supporting event/project management teams (merchandise collation, collateral proofing, event set up, etc.)
