Access Monash Mentors and Mentor Leaders working with secondary school students who are located in Tasmania will need to apply for a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People, which is similar to Victoria’s Working With Children Check, but is specifically required in the state of Tasmania.
Yes, checks to work with children are assessed state by state. If you are mentoring students from Tasmania, you will need to apply for a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) check which is similar to Victoria’s WWCC. You are unable to use your WWCC to mentor a student in Tasmania.

To apply for an RWVP to mentor Tasmanian students, please complete the relevant application process on the Department of Justice Apply for RWVP webpage. You will need to provide some personal information when applying for your RWVP including proof of identity documents, your contact information, where you have lived for the last 5 years and other information. You will need to contact the RWVP team through the Department of Justice, Tasmanian Government (an external organisation to Monash University that issues the checks) with any questions about your application. Yes, if you require a RWVP as part of your role as a Access Monash Mentor Leader, you may apply to be reimbursed. Please email accessmonash@monash.edu for instructions.
