Congratulations to Associate Professor Libby Callaway, who has been awarded Occupational Therapist of the Year as part of the 2020-2021 Australian Allied Health Awards.
Based at Peninsula campus, Libby Callaway is an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department and the Independent living stream lead at the Rehabilitation Ageing and Independent Living (RAIL) Research Centre. With over 27 years’ experience working with people with neurological disability, across both inpatient and community settings in Victoria and the United States, Libby has a strong interest in service co-design with people with disability, and delivery of innovative housing, technology and support design, and workforce development, for independent living.
“There are so many Occupational Therapists who deliver impactful work every day, and I feel grateful to be part of this excellent profession. Receiving this award is a real honour. It acknowledges work over many years now through both my role in the School of Primary and Allied Health Care at Monash University and my volunteering with the Australian Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Association. Through this range of work, I have the opportunity to collaborate with people with disabilities, their families, and industry partners to design and deliver innovative education and research programs that inform both health and disability policy and practice”, says Associate Professor Libby Callaway.
The prestigious award ceremony brought together over 300 health professionals virtually to recognise and celebrate hard working health professionals across Australia.
