Redeveloping Caulfield Plaza, a central hub for the Caulfield Station Precinct

Caulfield Plaza will undergo an exciting revitalisation project, which will modernise and uplift its facilities to ensure it continues to serve Monash University staff, students and the Caulfield community as a thriving retail and social hub. The Plaza will close from Tuesday 1 August and reopen in 2025.

The new Caulfield Plaza will be a welcoming retail space supporting the Caulfield community. Featuring revitalised retail areas, patrons can look forward to utilising the new Plaza for their everyday needs. Outside the Plaza, Princes Avenue will be redeveloped with a focus on pedestrian safety. Existing car parking will also be reconfigured as part of the project to improve the visitor commute.

During the Plaza’s redevelopment period, we recommend visiting the retailers located at the Caulfield campus and along Derby Road, as well as the Caulfield Village Coles (4 Caulfield Boulevard, Caulfield North) located just 450 metres from Caulfield Plaza. Other nearby retail hubs include Chadstone Shopping Centre and the Clayton campus, accessible via the staff and student shuttle bus.

The project takes place in a major period of development for the Caulfield Major Activity Centre, with a range of local, state, and federal government initiatives underway or in planning. Enhancing access to amenity and transportation will benefit our campus, which resides within the Caulfield Station Precinct as a multi-disciplinary hub of excellence and innovation for our students, staff and broader precinct community.

The Plaza’s redevelopment will complement this expected period of growth for the area, improving the Plaza’s connectivity between the Caulfield campus and greater Caulfield Station Precinct, in line with the University’s Caulfield Campus Masterplan.

Parking spaces located in the basement of the Caulfield Plaza, ground floor and upper level will remain available until Sunday 13 August, including Open Day on Saturday 5 August. Following Sunday 13 August, car parking will be unavailable at the Plaza for the remainder of the redevelopment period. Alternate parking can be found within Building J at the Caulfield campus or along Sir John Monash Drive.
