Monash Clayton Campus Centre

Overview

Monash University is currently exploring a major redevelopment of the Clayton Campus Centre in the coming years. Originally completed in 1963, it is one of the campus’s most heavily used buildings, currently providing approximately 16,900m2 of internal space across three levels, including a basement. The building accommodates a diverse mix of uses, including offices, retail, education and public assembly.

The planned new Campus Centre presents a unique opportunity to create a technologically advanced, reimagined hub for student life, health, and wellbeing. Designed to challenge convention, it will deliver a welcoming, supportive, and memorable campus experience.

Project timeline

As the project is in the early stages of design, specific details relating to the look and feel of the new Campus Centre, the placement of facilities, and any potential impacts on the campus layout are still under development and consideration. In parallel, bridging works to support the ongoing operation of the Campus Centre during construction are also being designed, should construction go ahead.

We are engaging with current tenants of the Clayton Campus Centre to work through options. Students, staff and other community members will be able to continue to access services, retail outlets and recreation and other spaces during construction, if and when it proceeds, with details about locations to be provided as the project progresses.
