Sustainable communities and disaster resilience

Recognized for contributions to community resilience, Monash University is advancing sustainable development and disaster management:

• The Monash Sustainable Development Institute's Fire to Flourish program won the 2024 Resilient Australia National Community Award for its role in building community resilience to disasters.



• The Monash Data & Democracy Research Hub participated in the ASEAN Strategic Policy Dialogue on Disaster Management 2024 in Singapore, focusing on inclusive approaches to enhance disaster resilience, with Dr Nazirul Hazim A. Khalim discussing the role of data science in empowering communities.
