Monash fosters sustainable solutions for food waste
The Monash Business School Fastrack start-up program and Monash University School of Science are fostering sustainable solutions and responsible consumption through innovative projects:
- Fastrack program graduates, including teams La Foundary and Wonki Beverages, are addressing food waste and sustainability by competing in the Hult Prize (a global competition for social ventures), with La Foundary transforming food waste into eco-friendly composites and Wonki Beverages creating low-sugar vodka premixes from misshapen produce.
- Bachelor of Food Science and Technology students Phang Kaiying and Shui Pu Hui achieved international recognition with their Pescado buckwheat noodles, a sustainable food prototype using underutilised buckwheat and upcycled fish scales, at the 22nd IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology.
