Policy and practice against child exploitation and abuse informed by survivors
The Monash University Artificial Intelligence for Law Enforcement and Community Safety (AiLECS) Lab, in collaboration with the Bravehearts Foundation, is leading a pioneering research project to gather perspectives from adult victims and survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The project aims to inform and develop survivor-centred policy and practice by understanding the needs and impacts on victims and survivors, particularly regarding the use of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) by police and other institutions.
The research seeks to incorporate survivor perspectives into the design and implementation of tools and processes that use CSAM, ultimately aiming to influence future laws, services, and policies to better meet the needs of victims and survivors.
